I hate goodbyes. JCS is closed now, as of Saturday night. Usually the end of a run doesn't really phase me all that much - it happens a little too often. But... do you know what I did after our closing night cabaret? When I couldn't take another "so long" or "see ya soon" or "take care of yourself" because I got all unexpectedly emotional at the ending of this, a production I really loved? I hid in the dressing room until the coast was clear to leave. A few people found me out, and did the whole solongfarewellaufwiedersehengoodbye thing. Mainly I avoided public tearing up. Because I'm an American man in the Rumsfeld era, damn it! If we start crying in public, the terrorists will have won!
To the cast, crew, and company of JCS: Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Now I'm on the road slowly making my way South to Florida. In Richmond, VA for a few days visiting friends.
I wasn't kidding about the writing to the management I mentioned in the previous entry.
You can still do that. I'll bake you cookies, cookies enriched with love. That's a figure of speech, by the way. They're perfectly good cookies.
